How to convert Morse code to text

Decode a transmission in three quick, dependable steps.

Enter the signal

Paste Morse code using dots and dashes. Separate letters with spaces and words with a slash or vertical bar.

02

Decode the pattern

Click Decode Morse. The converter validates each token against the International Morse alphabet.

03

Use the result

Review the readable message, copy it to your clipboard, or download a clean UTF-8 text file.

A focused decoder for real Morse messages

Useful controls and clear validation make noisy-looking transmissions easier to understand.

Letters and numbers

Decode A–Z, digits 0–9, and widely used International Morse punctuation.

Flexible separators

Use spaces between letters and either / or | between complete words.

Unknown-token alerts

Unrecognized patterns are marked clearly and counted instead of being silently removed.

Local and private

The message is decoded in your browser and is never uploaded for processing.

Reading Morse code correctly

Each Morse character is a short pattern of dots and dashes. A single space normally separates letters. Use a forward slash between words, such as .... .. / - .... . .-. ..

Accepted symbols

The decoder accepts a period or the bullet symbol as a dot. A normal hyphen, underscore, or typographic dash is normalized as a dash. This helps when Morse code is copied from different sources.

Handling unknown patterns

If a sequence does not match a supported character, the result displays a replacement marker. The status message reports how many tokens need review.

Morse Code to Text Converter FAQs

Answers about formatting, supported characters, privacy, and decoding accuracy.

How should I separate Morse letters and words?

Put one or more spaces between letters. Use a forward slash (/) or vertical bar (|) between words.

Does the converter support numbers?

Yes. It supports all digits from 0 through 9, plus common punctuation such as periods, commas, question marks, apostrophes, colons, and parentheses.

Can it decode SOS?

Yes. Enter ... --- ... and the converter returns SOS.

What happens when a Morse pattern is invalid?

The invalid token becomes a replacement marker in the output, and the status area reports the number of unrecognized patterns.

Can I use a bullet instead of a dot?

Yes. Bullet symbols are normalized to dots. Underscores and common long-dash characters are normalized to Morse dashes.

Is my Morse message uploaded?

No. Conversion, copying, and text-file creation happen locally in your web browser.

Why does spacing affect the result?

Morse code has no built-in letter boundary. Spaces tell the decoder where one character ends and the next begins.

Can I download the decoded message?

Yes. After decoding, select Download .txt to save the result as a UTF-8 text file.
