MP4 and MOV are multimedia containers capable of storing video, audio, subtitles, and metadata. MP4 is widely used for web delivery and general playback, while MOV is closely associated with Apple QuickTime, Final Cut Pro, and many professional editing workflows.
Re-encoding converts the video and audio streams into broadly compatible H.264 and AAC formats. Remuxing simply moves the existing streams into a MOV container without changing quality, making it much faster and lossless, but it may fail when the source codecs are unsuitable.
High quality retains more detail but creates larger files. Balanced mode works well for most users, while smaller-file mode uses stronger compression. Conversion time depends on video duration, resolution, bitrate, server CPU, and storage speed.
